Cockney Kings Fish & Chips - Hastings

I always love a nice plate of fish & chips, great food for a cloudy, rainy, or sunny day. In most cases I don't even think about getting fish & chips for dinner, it's just not something that comes to mind. On this particular day, after going to a fabric store (with my girlfriend) in New Westminster, I happened to notice Cockney Kings Fish & Chips. I don't know why I had never come here, I had gone to Douglas College for two years and it was a short walk away.

Anyways, that night we decided we would go for fish & chips except at the Burnaby location on Hastings, which was closer by.

To split between the two of us we ordered the Two Piece Halibut meal. It come with fries, a bun, and coleslaw. The two pieces of fish were a pretty decent size in my opinion, they didn't skimp out on that.
The fries were nice and crisp and tasted great, soaked in malt vinegar of course.

The fish was very good. Not super oily, nice and crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. It isn't very often I've had bad fish & chips, I think it is pretty simple to get right. I honestly don't notice much of a difference between paying extra $ for halibut vs cod, or whatever white fish they may happen to be using.
There was lots of fish, enough to fill both of us which was great, I love saving money aha.

The coleslaw came in a little paper cup. I didn't have any.. it's not really my thing. I forgot to mention the tartar sauce..not really sure what to say about it though, I enjoy my fish with tartar sauce on it, it adds a little bit of a quick and some extra flavor. The tartar sauce was pretty good here.

Well that's Cockney Kings Fish & Chips for you! I thought they
had a pretty good menu, lots of options and the food was quite good.
I think I will be coming back again.
