What can I say about this place, absolutely loved it.

My girlfriend had been the previous year, and raved about the wines there. She
the restaurant was under construction or at least not open at that time.

We went for a wine tasting, and upon seeing the restaurant was open we decided
to have a late lunch.

They have a nice patio area set up to eat. Quite a laid back

atmosphere, very pleasant. The menu features a number of share plates

and bigger dishes. Being a party of four, we each ordered a number of plates.

Started off with some Paella, shrimp, mussels, clams, chorizo...my

goodness, does not get much better than this.

I am not a big white wine drinker, but they had two great whites,

a chardonnay, and a viognier blend, definitely worth a try.

More food, yum! Sliced ham with Dijon Mustard, Fried Smelts, and Beet salad,

all great.

A Mushroom and Truffle Oil Mac and Cheese, this was my favorite dish we

tried.

Mixed Olives, Chorizo, Spicy Prawns, and Beet Salad again.

We really enjoyed the food and wine here. I'd love to come back with some friends and

spend the afternoon eating and drinking.

We ended up bring back a few bottles to enjoy back home.

The Vanilla Pod - Poplar Grove Winery, Penticton

I want try and pretend I know much about wine. While I don't know much, I do know that I tasted some fantastic wines at Poplar Grove Winery.

What I really want to talk about it food though. Apparently there was a new restaurant addition called the Vanilla Pod and today we were going to try it out.

To eat my girlfriend and I shared the jerk pork loin sandwich with German potato salad. This was delish! Besides our waiter being awkward I found the food to be very good. We did share their appetizer platter between our party and it was finished very quickly.

That's all, not a whole lot to talk about, food was good, the view was good, the company....I won't get into that :) There is no shortage of wineries in Penticton so hopefully this helped get a feel of this place in case you are looking into some of the different places to check out.

Bonitas Winery and Bistro - Summerland

Today we were checking out Bonitas Winery in Summerland. Like many of the wineries in the area I was expecting some great food, and wonderful views.

As you may gather from the picture, the view from the patio does not dissapoint.

I decided to try the Duck Confit Poutine $14 - Crispy Yukon Gold Fries topped with Tender Duck Confit simmerd in red wine jus and ricotta served with saffron pickled apple and fennel.

This was something new for me. I love poutine so this sounded like it could be interesting. Portion side aside I enjoyed the poutine, however for the price I would have liked to have a little more (I sometimes forget I am ordering appetizers at a winery, it's not all about big portions).

My lady went with the Open Face Salmon Sandwich $19 - Grilled Garlic Bread topped with baby Greens, avocado, tomato salsa, and wild coho salmon with lemon aioli. 

She was a big fan of this one. I was lucky enough to be able to finish off what she did not eat
and man was it delish. From what I heard from previous diners at this bistro, the salmon sandwich is one of the popular menu items.

Here is another view of what you get to look out at while you eat, simply fantastic.

Final Thoughts:

-Although I did not take pictures, we ordered some soup and it was amazing, my girlfriends father had raved about the soup last time, and got it again and it was great.

-I think I chose wrong with getting the poutine appetizer but the rest of the food looked great.

They have some good pasta and daily soup specials which did not dissapoint.

See Ya Later Ranch - Okanagan Falls

See Ya Later Ranch

I had the pleasure of visiting the Okanagan this past week. With any travels into Penticton and surrounding areas I knew that good food and wine would be in store.

Our first destination, and one of our favourites was See Ya Later Ranch, located just outside of Penticton in Okanagan Falls. I do not remember having Lunch here two years ago, but I do remember some fantastic views, so while this is a food review, this is more of a travel post.

So if you don't know anything about this place, animals (dogs especially) play a big role. They do charity work with the SPCA and if you ever have one of their bottles you will find a dog gracing the label.

We decided not to do any wine tasting and instead went straight out to

the patio for some eats, which is located right beside the store.

As you can gather from the pictures, quite the nice space and thankfully the umbrellas did

their job on this very warm day.

The Lunch Menu  was pretty small, which made for an easy decision. Three of us there equals a Cheese and Charcuterie Plate and Three Glasses of wine.

The food was great, perfect little bite to share while sipping on wine.

We each ordered a glass of wine, I went with the Pinot Gris (bottom left), and a Gewürztraminer (middle), and Ping (top) were also ordered.

What really made this great was this spectacular view from where we were sitting. Being up in the mountains, surrounded by Vineyards and a great view of Skaha Lake really makes it hard not to come back here...The pulled pork on the menu adds a little return incentive too :)

It is a great place to have Lunch, and if you are feeling somewhat frugal, pack your own lunch, buy a bottle of wine from their store and use their picnic area.
