Breka Bakery - Fraser and 49th

While driving I usually try and tune out the nonsense coming out of my girlfriends mouth and focus on driving. This particular night we were driving home from UBC after her play practice. She was repeatedly talking about Fraser and 49th...Fraser and 49th..over, and over.

Apparently one of her friends had told her there was a bakery that was a local favorite, open 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Seeing how it was late night, we had a couple options for sweets. Cheese cake etc..which we have been to multiple times, or this place we didn't know the name of on Fraser and 49th.

I told her we were going straight home because I hate sweets, much to her protest and dismay. However at the last moment, I turned right off of Broadway and headed up Fraser.

We found the place all right, it was the only store that had people in it at the time.

Strawberry Shortcake

This was quite the neat little bakery. They had an assortment of items including donuts, pastries, quiches, breads, and coffees. My attention instantly fell onto the strawberry shortcake..it just looked so nice I had to purchase a slice.
Surprisingly the cake survived the trip home and maintained most of its form.
This cafe seemed like a favorite for locals, and it deserves to be.

As for the shortcake I was quite pleased with it. I don't eat strawberry shortcake on the regular so I can't really compare it to anything but I enjoyed it. It was just light enough on the sweet factor for me to handle it (savory man right here).

If you are ever looking for some late night sweets I was definitely check this place out. I am sure even the pickiest eater could find something from the assortments of goods here.
